Passage clé de la Suisse à l'Italie depuis des centaines d'années, le Col du Simplon abrite l'Hospice du même nom. Construit sur ordre de Napoléon Bonaparte il servit de caserne, avant d'être investi par la communauté des chanoines de l'ordre du Grand St Bernard. L'hiver, la région est un paradis pour les randonneurs en raquette et à ski. Chaque jour, vous randonnerez en raquettes dans des panoramas superbes dominés par les cimes blanches des grands sommets des Alpes. Hébergement à l'Hospice du Simplon à 2000m d'altitude, dans une ambiance montagnarde inoubliable / A key passage from Switzerland to Italy for hundreds of years, the Simplon Pass is home to the Hospice of the same name. Built by order of Napoleon Bonaparte, it served as a barracks, before being invested by the community of canons of the order of Grand St Bernard. In winter, the region is a paradise for snowshoeing and back-country skiing. Every day, you will snowshoe in superb panoramas dominated by the white peaks of the great summits of the Alps. Accommodation at the Simplon Hospice at 2000m altitude, in an unforgettable mountain atmosphere.

Détails / Details:

Jour 1 / Day 1: RDV en fin de matinée à l'Hospice du Simplon. Promenade en raquette dans la plaine du col du Simplon et jusqu'au Staldhorn (2462m). De ce promontoire panoramique, magnifique point de vue sur la vallée du Rhône et les Alpes Bernoises. Retour et installation à l’hospice pour la soirée / Meet late morning at the Simplon Hospice. Light stroll on the Simplon pass plateau and up to the Staldhorn (2462m). From the summit we will enjoy a magnificent view on the Rhone Valley and the Bernese Alps. Return to and settling-in the hospice for the evening.

Jour 2 / Day 2: Après un bon petit déjeuner préparé par les chanoines, départ pour la randonnée du jour à la découverte du vallon de Rossusée. Celui-ci nous conduit en douceur jusqu'au col d’Usseri Nanxlicke (2602 m) et le Spitzhorli (2737 m). Retour à l’Hospice du Simplon pour la nuit / After a good breakfast prepared by the canons, departure for a full day snowshoeing to the high valley of Rossusée. The climb will lead us gently to the pass of Usseri Nanxlicke (2602 m) and the Spitzhorli (2737 m). Return to the Simplon Hospice for the night.

Jour 3 / Day 3: Nouvelle journée de randonnée superbe dans les majestueux panorama du Simplon ! Au depart de Nideralp, nous monterons sur les pentes du Magehorn (2622m) avant de retourner en traversée vers le col et l’hospice du Simplon. Nuit à l’hospice / Another day of great hiking on a beautiful panorama of the Simplon! Departing from Nideralp, the climb will lead us to the to Magehorn (2622m) before traversing back to the Simplon pass and the hospice. Night at the Simplon Hospice.

Jour 4 / Day 4: Après le petit déjeuner et avoir rendu nos chambres à l'hospice, départ pour notre dernière journée de randonnée au dessus du hameau de Rothwald jusqu'au Hohture (2408m). En fin de journée retour en car postal et train / After breakfast and checking out at the hospice, departure for our last day of hiking above the little hamlet of Rothwald all the way up to the Hohture (2408m). At the end of the day return by postal bus and train.

Accés / Access: En transport publique (train + car postal) jusqu'à l'Hospice du Simplon (arrêt Simplon Hospiz). Co-voiturage possible depuis Genève (RDV à définir) / By public transport (train + postal bus) to the Simplon Hospice (Simplon Hospiz stop). Car-sharing possible from Geneva (meeting point to be decided).

Difficultés / Difficulty: R2-R3 / 11 à 13 km et 500-800m de dénivelé par jour / 11 to 13 km and 500-800m positive ascent per day. Pour bons randonneurs.euses; expèrience en raquettes requise / For fit hikers. Previous snowshoeing experience needed.

Prix / Price: €495 ou 530CHF.

Le prix inclus / Price includes: 4 jours de randonnée en raquette avec un accompagnateur en montagne certifié; 3 nuits à l'hospice du Simplon en dortoir en demi-pension ; les piqueniques / 4 days snowshoeing with certified International Mountain Leader; 3 nights at the Simplon Hospice dormitory, half board; picnics.

Le prix n'inclus pas / Price does not include: transport jusqu’au Simplon; dépenses personnelles; location de matériel / transport to the Simplon pass; personnal expenses (drinks...); equipment rental.
